Design & Technology: Curriculum

Years 5-6 Curriculum

The Haileybury Almaty Design Technology Departmental Foundation Course is a consolidated programme delivered by specialist teachers from the D&T discipline.

Students receive 60 minutes of curriculum time each week in specialist accommodation. Two well-equipped computer suites, two DT workshops and one Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing lab provide the opportunity for a broad and exciting curriculum to be delivered.

The programme is project based with a clear emphasis on designing and making. Students design work and the production process is recorded in a Design Folder.

Projects for the 2011-12 academic year are:

Year 5

The Year 5 DT syllabus is developed with the support of the class teachers so that the pupils gain the most educational value by relating DT to cross-curricular themes and topics that are being studied

Year 6

The Year 6 DT syllabus is developed with the support of the class teachers so that the pupils gain the most educational value by relating DT to cross-curricular themes and topics that are being studied

 

Years 7-9 Curriculum

The Haileybury Almaty Design Technology Departmental Foundation Course is a consolidated programme delivered by specialist teachers from the D&T discipline.

Students receive 80 minutes of curriculum time each week in specialist accommodation. Two well-equipped computer suites, two DT workshops and one Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing lab provide the opportunity for a broad and exciting curriculum to be delivered.

The programme is project based with a clear emphasis on designing and making. Students design work and the production process is recorded in a Design Folder. Projects in the younger years are closely guided with a limited range of outcomes, whereas the projects in the senior years are more complex, open-ended challenges where all stages of the Design Process are fully addressed.

Years 10-11 IGCSE Assessment

Students receive 2 hours 40 minutes of curriculum time each week in specialist accommodation. Two well-equipped computer suites, two DT workshops and one Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing lab provide the opportunity for a broad and exciting curriculum to be delivered.

The programme is project based with a clear emphasis on designing and making. Students design work and the production process is recorded in a Design Folder.

Years 12-13 AS/A Level Assessment

Students receive 2 hours 40 minutes of curriculum time each week in specialist accommodation. Two well-equipped computer suites, two DT workshops and one Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing lab provide the opportunity for a broad and exciting curriculum to be delivered.

The programme is project based with a clear emphasis on designing and making. Students design work and the production process is recorded in a Design Folder.

 


There are no lessons at the moment.
School hours are Mon-Thu 8-5 & Fri 8-4.
