I am pleased to welcome to our webpage. I would like to explain about our parents' organisation — Friends of Haileybury.
Our organization was established in 2014/15. Our structure is constantly evolving to ensure it meets our aims. The main aim of Friends of HAL is to effectively unite parents and children in the school. We aim to help everyone and to raise a new generation of smart, kind, competitive and successful children.
Our organization aims to be as proactive as possible in the life of the school. We have implemented a number of community, social, and charitable activities. We have helped new teachers to settle into living in Almaty by organising a barbecue for new staff at the headmaster’s home. You can see video from the event here.
We have also helped to launch a new direction in our school by planting greenery in the classes and screening movies to raise money for charity, helping local children and their families. We also help to organize a great event in the school’s calendar, the annual «Winter Festival». The inaugural festival turned the school into a miniature Covent Garden, with many food courts, activities, music, art and drama performances, and competitions including a special Christmas Tree Parade.

We believe it is necessary to engrain our children good nature, compassion and empathy. We therefore support international and local charities to help those less fortunate than our own children. We have helped to raise significant amounts of money towards the pupils’ chosen charity of building a school in Cambodia in collaboration with UWS (United World Schools). This project has seen Haileybury fund 100% of the building and maintenance of a school in remote Cambodia.
A final word
Friends of Haileybury aims to be an effective communication platform for all parents. We love our school and are happy to support it to become a better place for raising our children!
