In Key Stage 2, which includes Years 3 to 6, there are three classes in each year group. Each class has a full time teaching assistant. Our curriculum is strengthened by the inclusion of many curriculum enrichment events such as Poetry Week, Book Week, Mad Maths Morning, and Science Week.
In Key Stage 2 we aim to build on the work of Key Stage 1 and further instill inquisitiveness and a love of learning in our children. The ability to question and solve problems for themselves is further promoted amongst our children, helping to develop reasoning skills as well as encouraging a lifelong enthusiasm for academics.
The children continue to have their main class teacher but also begin to be taught by an increasing number of specialist teachers as they move through Key Stage 2. All children have specialist teachers for Kazakh, Modern Foreign Languages, Music and PE in Key Stage 2. As they progress through to Year 4, this increases to include a specialist Art teacher, and then teachers for Kazakh History in Years 5 and 6.
Children in Years 5 and 6 are also streamed by ability in Maths and English enabling teachers to tailor learning more specifically to the group they have, supporting and extending them appropriately. This helps to prepare children for their move to the Secondary School where they will have different teachers for every subject.
